A comfortable headset for children.
A comfortable headset for children.
Because most VR glasses are not suitable for young children (from 4 years old), we are busy developing our own headset. The reason One of the main reasons for this is that the IPD (interpupillary distance) in children is much smaller than in adults. In our product we therefore use extra small lenses, so that we can achieve a low IPD.
Another advantage of our glasses is the fit, which is specially designed for young children. Children naturally have smaller heads than adults, especially in width. Our fit fits children's heads better, resulting in more wearing comfort.
There are more products on the market that profile themselves as VR glasses for children. But these glasses are often not suitable for young children of 6 years or younger, because the IPD and fit are not small enough.
Because our glasses are intended for a specific target group (children with a lazy eye), we can better tailor our product to the wishes and needs of this target group. Especially for strabenten (cross-eyed), it is important to make certain adjustments to the product. To ensure that the crossed eye can also look straight at the screen, a prism is used. A prism is an optical aid, which is used to refract light rays with a certain angle. In this case, the prism is placed on the glasses between the crossed eye and the lens. In the case of anisometropia, myopia and hyperopia, children can wear glasses or contact lenses in the VR glasses. In some cases, they can also leave out their glasses or contact lenses, and the refraction difference can be solved by moving the lenses of the VR glasses.
The goal of VR is to give the user the feeling that he is in a digital (virtual) world. It seems like you are in the middle of a movie or a game. To achieve this, it is necessary to fill a large part of the field of view with the screen. This is done in the VR glasses by holding the screen very close to the face.Because it is not possible to focus on a screen that is so close, two strong convex lenses are used. These lenses create the illusion that the screen is very far away and very large. The lenses have two functions. First, the lenses magnify the content displayed on the screen, just like when you use a magnifying glass. Second, the lenses help to focus on the screen. Thanks to the lenses, you can easily look at the screen without having to tense the ciliary muscle in the eyes. Our VR glasses use a smartphone as input for the dichoptic training. This allows us to save on the costs of expensive technology and keeps our treatment affordable for everyone.
